The mission of CompuPlace is to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities through computer-related activities that are both educational and recreational. This mission is achieved through providing abilities-based computer access and training to people with disabilities, primarily to Cedar Rapids area adults over the age of 21. Current CompuPlace Wish List Established in 1988 as Compuplay to provide a computer resource center for individuals with disabilities. They moved to the Ecumenical Community Center in 2000 and became known as CompuPlace. Sessions are tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual; stimulating the development of literacy, language, reasoning, and academic and creative skills through... - Touch Screens - Voice Recognition - Switches - Large Print - Speech Internet access and e-mail help individuals keep in touch with family and friends! Coordination Working with many local agencies, CompuPlace helps individuals to work at skills like reading, math and problem solving in an atmosphere of encouragement and fun! CompuPlace works cooperatively with parents, caregivers, and related professionals and organizations.
